Greenwood Hill Cemetery Cleanup May 18 from 10-2 Our first community project of helping the group that manages the Greenwood Hills Cemetery, which our lodge started back in the 1870’s, will take place on May 18th from 10-2 with lunch provided. We will be helping cleanup and uncover some headstones in the back of the cemetery. We hope to find other opportunities to work with this group throughout the year and maybe have just a Portland Lodge event later in the year. I hope that working with them will become a key annual event for the lodge. You should bring gloves, brooms, rakes small shovels clippers if you can…if you can’t that is fine too. Also, bring hats, sunscreen (I hope) and umbrellas. We need to give them a count the week before so they can have enough lunch. Email Garry doublerpdx@gmail.com or call him at 503-246-6091 [home] to confirm you are coming. Here is a link to their web site for directions http://greenwoodhillscemetery.org/Home_Page.php There is an interesting story in their Spring newsletter regarding the first trolley line in Portland going up to the cemetery. They have not had a rainy day, but just in case it does rain, use your own judgment and come only if it is easy and you can tolerate the rain…if I hear that it will be delayed, we will send an email alerting everyone.
